This Privacy Policy explains how Skrend collects, uses, and shares your information when you use the Skrend mobile application.
We are operated by an Australian sole trader, based in Australia.

What we collect
When you use Skrend, we collect:
Identity information
- Your Apple ID user identifier (received via Sign in with Apple)
- Your email address (may be Apple's private relay address)
- Your display name and chosen handle
Friend graph
- Your connections to other Skrend users
- Your role in interactions (requester or approver)
User-generated content
- Photo and video proof you upload to verify completion of friend-assigned challenges
- Free-text content you write: pleas attached to time-extension requests, denial reasons, challenge prompts
Subscription data
- Your subscription status, plan, and renewal/expiration dates (synced from Apple via RevenueCat)
- We never see or store your payment card details — Apple is the merchant of record for all in-app purchases
Device data
- Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) device tokens to send you notifications
- Crash reports and stack traces (when the app crashes unexpectedly)
Usage data
- App events and screen interactions (taps, screen views, feature usage) collected via PostHog for product improvement
- These events do not contain personal content (the text of your messages, photos, etc.)
We do not collect: location data, contacts from your phone, browsing or search history, health data, financial data beyond subscription state, or any data linked to your identity for advertising purposes.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Operate Skrend's core features: friend connections, time-extension requests, challenges, proof review
- Authenticate you and link your account to your Apple ID
- Send push notifications relating to your account and friend interactions
- Process and verify your in-app subscription
- Improve the app via aggregated usage analytics
- Diagnose and fix bugs via crash reports
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing, selling/renting/sharing with data brokers, or cross-app or cross-website tracking.
Who we share with
We share specific data only with the following service providers, all under strict confidentiality:
- Apple Inc. — authentication via Sign in with Apple, in-app purchase processing (Apple is merchant of record), push notification delivery, App Store distribution
- Supabase Inc. — backend infrastructure for your account, friend graph, requests, challenges, and proof storage. Privacy: supabase.com/privacy
- PostHog Inc. — anonymized product interaction events and crash reports. Privacy: posthog.com/privacy
- RevenueCat Inc. — subscription state synchronization. Privacy: revenuecat.com/privacy
We share your friend graph data only with users you've explicitly added as friends. Your photo/video proof is shared only with the specific friend you've designated as the approver.
Where we store your data
Your data is stored in Supabase's cloud infrastructure. Data may transfer outside Australia (e.g., to the United States) for processing by our service providers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your account, friend graph, all uploaded proof, and associated content within 30 days.
We may retain anonymized usage analytics indefinitely (no personal identifiers) and limited information beyond account deletion if required by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Delete your data (also available directly via Settings → Delete Account)
- Object to or restrict our processing
- Receive a copy in portable format
- Withdraw consent (where applicable)
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

If you are in the EEA or UK, you can complain to your country's data protection authority.
If you are in California, you have additional rights under the CCPA. We do not sell personal information.
Children
Skrend is rated 9+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe this has occurred, contact us.
Security
We use:
- HTTPS/TLS for all network communication
- Apple ID authentication via Sign in with Apple
- iOS Keychain for authentication token storage
- Row-level security on our backend database
- Photo/video proof stored in private storage buckets, accessed only via short-lived signed URLs
No system is perfectly secure. We will notify you of security incidents affecting your data in accordance with applicable law.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in-app or via email. The current version is always posted at https://skrend.com/privacy. Continued use of Skrend after changes constitutes acceptance.
