These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Skrend mobile application (“App”). By using Skrend, you agree to these Terms.

Who we are

Skrend is operated by an Australian sole trader, based in Australia.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Skrend. If you are between 13 and the age of legal capacity in your jurisdiction, you must have your parent or guardian's consent.

You must have a valid Apple ID.

Your account

You are responsible for the security of your Apple ID and any activity on your Skrend account. You agree to:

Provide accurate information when prompted
Choose a handle that does not impersonate another person or use offensive language
Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

Acceptable use

Skrend is a social screen-time tool. You are responsible for the content you upload and your conduct toward other users.

You agree not to:

Upload content that is illegal, infringing, harassing, threatening, defamatory, or sexually explicit
Send unwanted requests, challenges, or messages to users who have indicated they do not wish to interact with you
Use Skrend to harass, bully, intimidate, or stalk
Impersonate another person, real or fictional
Attempt to bypass technical limitations of the app
Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to interact with Skrend
Resell, redistribute, or commercialize access to Skrend

User-generated content

You retain ownership of the photos, videos, and text you upload (“Your Content”). By uploading Your Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, transmit, and display Your Content as necessary to operate Skrend (e.g., showing your challenge proof to the friend you've designated as approver).

We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

Block and report

You can block another user at any time via Skrend's Settings. Blocked users cannot send you requests, challenges, or any other interactions.

You can report inappropriate content or behavior via the in-app Report function. We will review reports and may remove content or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Subscriptions

Skrend offers a paid Premium subscription:

Annual: $29.99 USD/year (or local equivalent), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers
Weekly: $4.99 USD/week (or local equivalent)

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period at the regular rate. You can cancel at any time via your Apple ID account settings (iOS Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

If you cancel during the 7-day free trial, you will not be charged.

After your subscription expires, you can continue using Skrend's free features (responding to friends' requests as an approver). You cannot set or modify your own app limits or use other premium features until you re-subscribe.

Apple is the merchant of record for all subscriptions. Refund requests are handled by Apple.

Disclaimer of warranties

Skrend is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that Skrend will be uninterrupted or error-free, that information you receive will be accurate, or that Skrend will meet your expectations.

We do not guarantee outcomes related to your screen-time goals, behavior change, or relationships with friends.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or Skrend is limited to the greater of:

The amount you paid us in subscription fees during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, OR
100 AUD

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us from any claim, damages, or liability arising from your use of Skrend, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we cease offering the service. Upon termination, your account and associated content will be deleted within 30 days.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. The current version is always posted at https://skrend.com/terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of NSW, Australia, except where applicable consumer protection law gives you the right to bring claims in your local jurisdiction.

Apple-specific terms

Because Skrend is distributed via the Apple App Store, additional terms apply:

These Terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple
Apple is not responsible for Skrend or its contents
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
If Skrend fails to conform to applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund your subscription. Apple has no further warranty obligations.
Apple is not responsible for addressing claims (including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual property infringement)
Third-party intellectual property claims regarding Skrend are our responsibility, not Apple's
Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them
